Government of Goiás discusses expansion of trade with representatives of Asian countries

In search of strengthening trade between Goiás and foreign nations, the governor of the state, Ronaldo Caiado, received members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), in the Emerald Palace, the government headquarters. The meeting was held last Friday (10).
The Asian representatives were also met with representatives of the main portfolios related to the productive sector of Goiano, including the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Seapa). Secretary Tiago Mendonça was one of the hosts of the meeting, which was also attended by market intelligence manager Petherson Santana and technical advisor Christiane Amorim, who exposed the potential for investments linked to agro in the state.
Asean accounted for 8.78% of exports and 5.52% of goiás imports last year. According to the president of the entity, acting ambassador of Singapore, Desmond Êndjí, the interest is to increase the numbers. Last year alone, Goiás exported US$ 1.23 billion to Asean countries and imported US$ 331.35 million. The trade balance was positive at $900.31 million.
The volume of exports in 2022 rose 83% compared to 2021. Imports, on the other other year, grew by 15% compared to the previous year. The balance of the Trade Balance Goiás/Asean rose 133% in 2022. In 2021, the surplus was US$ 385.8 million.
