Forest or swamp? Experiences comcant which cleans the atmosphere best and at what cost

Forests, such as the Amazon and the Atlantic Forest, usually receive more attention than other biomes in discussions on the climate crisis. Because of their ability to extract carbon from the air and biodiversity, these biomes are really key to avoiding future disasters. We need more forest area in the world -- but creating forests, with their tall trees that take time to grow, is difficult and costly. For issues as varied as available area, soil, rainfall regime, urgency to obtain results, money to spend and local productive activities, other forms of vegetation can offer a better cost-benefit ratio. How to decide the types of green area to (re)create in each location?
In the search for answers, the UK government has partnered with six ongoing projects in England. Everyone is already committed to comparing Nature-Based Solutions (SbN) to deal with the climate crisis – more specifically, the ability to capture carbon from different combinations of biomes and preservation techniques and (re)creation of green areas. The projects already have other sources of funding, such as local governments and private sponsors. The national government initially enters with a modest value of 4.3 million pounds (R$ 27 million), but helps by bringing these different efforts together in a network. The money comes from a program that runs until 2024 and seeks, in addition to scientific findings, to promote integration between local governments and develop green finance tools.
The six initiatives contemplated involve forests, swamps, swamps, fields, ripe forests, areas with shrubs and low trees. "Achieving the benefits on the scale we need requires us to work together collaboratively on various biomes," said Tony Juniper, chairman of the board of Natural England, the Uk government's advisory body on nature protection and restoration issues. "This will only be possible if we forge broad partnerships -- and that becomes the rule, as different sectors see that they are all part of the solution to the climate and environmental challenges facing the world and this country."
In informing the investment on Saturday (11/2), Natureal England detailed: "Each project will also seek the best combination of public and private resources to support the fulfillment of its plans."
Each of the six projects chosen mixes different vegetation and approaches. On the whole, there is restoration of green belt around urban area; creation of green corridors between preserved areas; recreation of biomes capable of harboring birds, bats and pollinating insects; maintenance of carbon storage soils; protection of springs and springs; and guidance to farmers to test agroforestry systems, with combinations of pastures, plantations and patches of wild vegetation (more details can be found on the wild exmoor Carbon Sequestration Project, Wansbeck Restoration for Climate Change, Plymouth's Natural Grid Nature Based Solutions for Climate Change at the Landscape Scale Project, Derwent Forest Landscape Recovery Project, The Oxfordshire–Buckinghamshire Freshwater Network and Severn Solutions for Nature's Recovery -- SSNR).
