Developing natural fungicides, from active materials extracted from plant extracts, for the control of whitefly populations and other greenhouse tomato diseases is the main objective of the Life NextFumigreen project, which has just been born in December.

Lasting four years and expected to end in May 2027, the company responsible for testing a new type of plant protection product, based on active ingredients of natural origin is the Spanish FumiHogar.

The product will be developed against pests and specific diseases of pepper and tomato crops (larger greenhouse crops) that can be used for pathogens other than whitefly.  The researchers intend fungicide to be effective also against thrips and Tuta absoluta.
