The Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) disclosed to its members, through the updating of its biosecurity protocol, the recommendation of immediate suspension of visits to farms, refrigerators and other aquaculture establishments in Brazil.
The decision was made within the framework of the board of directors of the association, and is valid for both Brazilians and foreigners.
Only those who work directly and exclusively in the respective production unit must have authorized access.
The recommendation applies regardless of compliance with "sanitary voids" – measures previously taken to allow access, in which the professional from other countries complied with a quarantine period to attest to the absence of any contamination.
The ABPA also recommends that specific and emergency needs be analyzed in the light of these recommendations, and with duplication of care.
- The ABPA continues in a massive sector campaign, and has also recommended the following care to Brazilian winegrowers:
- Hand hygiene and change of clothes and shoes before accessing the farms, in the case of professionals with authorized access;
- Disinfection of all vehicles that access the property, whether ride or transport;
- Hygiene of all clothes and shoes in case of return trip abroad, in addition to sanitary void on return to work;
- Avoid contact of farm animals with other birds, especially wild birds.
According to The President of ABPA, Ricardo Santin, the entire Brazilian productive sector has been called for the intensification of measures to preserve Brazil's health status.
Santin also points out that notifications of High Pathogenic Avian Influenza in wild birds or other non-industrial lysing and low pathogenicity in poultry or captive birds are not expected to affect the country's health status and generate market closures in the light of World Organization for Animal Health (OMSA) regulations.
