United States wants to ban tomato imports

Because of accusations of forced labor, U.S. customs and border protection agencies are preparing to block imports of cotton and tomato products from Xinjiang, China. The announcement of the ban was delayed by problems on the Agenda of the U.S. government.
With the ban, the border agency can detain shipments with suspected forced labor, based on human trafficking laws, child labor and human rights. China denies the accusations, the spokesman for Beijing's foreign ministry called the order a pretext for targeting Chinese companies.
China is the largest tomato producer in the world, the Asian country produced more than 64,768.16 million tomatoes in 2020. According to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), tomatoes have more than 10,000 varieties and China accounted for more than 34.67% of the world's tomato volume by 2020.
