Brazilian soybean oil gains more space in the international market
quarta-feira, setembro 14, 2022
The bran and, mainly, soybean oil produced in Brazil are gaining more space in the international market. Fact that was highlighted on Tuesday (13) by the director of content of Canal Rural, Giovani Ferreira, during the newsletter 'AgroExport'.
Soybean meal
In the soybean meal segment, Ferreira demonstrated, from data from the Ministry of Economy's Secretariat of Foreign Trade, that foreign exchange revenue in 2022 (from January 1 to September 10) is already the same as last year: US$ 7.3 billion.
The value shows appreciation of soybean meal in the international market. This is because, in the consolidated 2021, revenue of US$ 7.3 billion was made in front of 17.2 million tons shipped abroad. In the partial of this year, the same financial amount was reached with 14.6 million tons exported.
"We are at a very similar pace to last year. We must, yes, beat the 17 million tons [sent abroad], and can set a new record", commented the presenter of the newsletter 'AgroExport' when participating in the television news 'Mercado & Companhia'. "Nothing more than 17.6 million tons," he estimates.
Soybean oil
In the case of soybean oil exports, records have already been recorded in 2022 —both in foreign exchange revenue and in embedded volume. By September 10, Brazil had already shipped 1.9 million tons of the product abroad, thus surpassing the 1.65 million t mark recorded throughout last year.
In revenue, the record of soybean oil exports is even higher compared to the previous period. That's because from January to September 10, $2.9 billion has already been moved. In 2021, foreign exchange revenue was US$ 2 billion.
"We've already set an absolute record, even at the beginning of September," Ferreira said. For this highlight, he recalled that in the face of the war between Ukraine and Russia, Europe finds itself in the midst of the risk of a lack of gas supply - then supplied by Moscow. Therefore, as Ferreira pointed out, the increase in the purchase of soybean oil, which can be transformed into bioenergy.
Soybeans grain
In relation to soybeans in grain, Giovani Ferreira pointed out that there is a slowdown in the pace of exports. Thus, it should not beat the 86.1 million tons achieved in 2021. The expectation, according to him, is to reach close to the level of 2020, closing the current year with 82 million tons sent abroad.
In the 2022 partial, which presents data until September 10, the volume exported from soybean grain is 68.4 million tons. In terms of foreign exchange revenue, however, the year also represents a record for the primary product. After all, revenue of $40 billion already exceeds the previous result: $38.6 billion in 2021.
"Commodity valued in the international market" - Giovani Ferreira, on the export of soybeans in grain
The presenter of 'AgroExport' explained the reasons behind the increase in foreign exchange revenue even in the face of a smaller volume exported from soybeans in grain by Brazil. "Effect of the appreciation of the dollar against the real and the commodity valued in the international market," he said.
