Soybean oil exports grow 35%
quarta-feira, fevereiro 08, 2023
In the comparison of January 2023 with the same period of the previous year, the soybean oil market grew by 35% in exports. By volume, it left the 161,000 tons shipped and went to 218,000 tons.
The increase in the international market for Brazilian soybean oil was highlighted in this week's edition of the 'AgroExport' newsletter. Presenter of the board, the director of content of Canal Rural, Giovani Ferreira, emphasized the fact that the segment has already been highlighted last year and that, with the result of the first month of 2023, shows to have the potential to keep advancing. He also noted the relationship of the Eastern European conflict, which completes one year this month, with the growth of exports of the product.
"This shipment of oil also reflects a side effect in Eastern Europe, between Russia and Ukraine," Ferreira said. "Europe needs to reduce dependence on Russian gas. And what is soybean oil? It's fuel. It's energy. It turns into biodiesel", continued the executive when talking to journalist and presenter Flávia Macedo during the edition of Tuesday (7) of 'Mercado & Companhia'.
"Remembering that last year, soybean oil set an absolute export record. We closed 2022 with 2.6 million tons against 1.7 million tons," recalled the director of Canal Rural, based on data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC). "Great possibility for us to surpass the 3 million tons of soybean oil shipped by Brazil in 2023."
Exports of soybean complex: bran maintains plateau, grain plummets
While shipments abroad of soybean oil increased in comparison between January 2023 and January 2022, the level of soybean meal was stabilized. This is because, in the two months analyzed, the exported volume was in the house of 1.5 million tons.
In the cut in question, soybean exports fell by about two-thirds. Thus, it was from 2.45 million tons shipped out of Brazil in January last year to 850,000 tons shipped during january 2023.
