Bolivia activates health emergency due to avian flu outbreak

Bolivia's National Agricultural Health and Food Safety Service (Senasag) activated the National Animal Health Emergency System earlier this week and recommended increasing safety measures at poultry farms. According to organ, this is necessary due to the detection of cases of avian influenza.
"More than 18 brigades were mobilized for the control and subsequent elimination of the virus (H5N1) present in the sources of infection in the municipality of Sacaba, in the department of Cochabamba," said Javier Ernesto Suárez Hurtado, Executive Director General of Senasag.
The organization indicated that it is working in coordination with the Armed Forces and the Bolivian Police. In addition, they coordinate other state levels, such as the governor's office and municipal governments.
Bolivia: 120-days health emergency
