The Canaoeste (Association of Sugarcane Planters of the West of the State of São Paulo) of Sertãozinho receives tomorrow, 24, the visit of an international entourage of members of entities of the government of the Philippines.
The group of 12 people, including authorities and advisors, landed in Brazil on Saturday, 21, in Piracicaba, with the mission to travel regions to know the new technologies of sugarcane production.
The Philippines is one of the largest sugar producers in the world. In January 2022, according to data from the Sugar Regulatory Authority (SRA), that country produced 657,352 metric tons (MT) of raw sugar, compared with 628,286 tons in the same period of 2021.
In Sertãozinho, the entourage disembarks on Tuesday morning with some visits on the agenda. The board of Canaoeste will receive the members at the association's head room.
"Our role will be to present the technologies, the level of excellence and development that we offer to more than 2,000 sugarcane producers associated with Canaoeste. The expectation of the visit is to continue with our commitment to develop the chain, having the opportunity to expand our culture and our model to the world, it is very good to serve as an example, this means that we are on the path, since our current work model is of interest to other institutions and desired as something to achieve", explains canaoeste's corporate manager, Almir Aparecido Torcato.
Also according to Almir, the visit is a recognition and validation that is being done by Canaoeste. "Nevertheless, opening the doors for producers reaches an ethical context, because one of the associative principles is the division and sharing of concepts, technology in a collective and collaborative way. We are open not only to associations from other countries, but to those who want to know our work or our management model."
Still in Canaoeste, the Philippines has an interest in knowing the structure of the entity with the services provided to associates for 77 years, since in their country they do not yet have this type of institution.
"The SRA (Sugar Regulatory Administration) that will accompany us, will have contact with many things for the first time and that for us is already our routine. Here you will know the São Martinho plant, which is an example for the country, will also be shown to visitors some managements and technologies such as MPB (Pre-Sprouted Seedling), sugarcane varieties, systematization, planting methods such as Meiosi and Cantosi, among other common practices in our region of the South-Central country", comments Octavio Valsechi, professor at UFSCar, organizer of the technical visit.
According to data presented by Datagro, experts from the sugar-energy sector project for the sugarcane harvest 2022/2023 in the South-Central region of the country, a 7.04% increase in the harvest, with a total milling expectation of 562 million tons.
