Germany announces €200 million donation for environmental actions

The Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, Svenja Schulze, announced today (30) the release of about 200 million euros to be committed to environmental actions in Brazil in a period of 100 days. The statement was made during a press conference in Brasilia.
Alongside Environment Minister Marina Silva, German Minister Schulze confirmed, within the total contribution, 35 million euros to the Amazon Fund and 31 million euros to support Amazon ian states in the implementation of what the German government refers to as "ambitious actions" for greater forest protection.
The total figure also includes EUR 29.5 million in support of an energy efficiency guarantee fund for small and medium-sized enterprises, with a direct contribution to private investments in energy efficiency; and EUR 5.37 million in a consultancy project for the promotion of renewable energies in industry and the transport sector.
The announced amount of EUR 13.1 million in a project to support smallfarmers in reforestation actions on their land is also foreseen; EUR 80 million for farmers to have access to reduced interest credit lines; and 9 million in support of sustainable supply chains.
Amazon Fund
The donation of 35 million euros to the Amazon Fund was formalized through the signing of a financial contract between the German bank KfW and the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES).
States of the Amazon
The German government signaled its intention to allocate 31 million euros to Amazonian states for projects for the protection and sustainable use of forests, aligned with policies and strategic objectives of the Plan for the Prevention and Control of Deforestation in the Amazon.
