Corn and wheat inspections for overseas delivery increased week-on-week, while soybean assessments declined, according to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Corn inspections for the seven days ended December 15 increased to 743,420 metric tons, up from 517,417 tons the previous week, the agency said in a report.
The total also fell from the 1 million tons evaluated in the same week of the previous year. Wheat surveys for offshore delivery increased to 304,108 metric tons, the USDA said. That's up from 219,358 tons the previous week and the 233,747 tonnes inspected in the same period last year.
Soybean inspections, in turn, fell to 1.62 million tons last week from 1.88 million in the previous seven-day period, the agency said. This is also below the 1.91 million tons examined at the same point in 2021. Since the beginning of the trading year on September 1, the USDA has inspected 7.9 million metric tons of corn for export, up from 11.4 million tons in the same period a year earlier, the government said.
Soybean inspections since the beginning of September are now at 25 million metric tons, down from 27.4 million tons in the same period a year earlier. Wheat valuations since the beginning of the grain trading year on June 1 are at 11.4 million metric tons, down from 11.7 million tons last year, the USDA said in its report.
