Brazil Sugarcane project visits Peru

Technical and commercial mission will be held from 12 to 16 December in Barranca, Lima, Piura and Trujillo
The Brazil Sugarcane Bioenergy Solution Project, a partnership between the Local Alcohol Productive Arrangement (Apla) and the Brazilian Agency for The Promotion of Exports and Investments (ApexBrasil), will bring a technical commercial mission to Peru, in the cities of Barranca, Lima, Piura and Trujillo, where it will remain from December 12 to 16.
The action will increase exports of Brazilian technology, solutions, machinery and equipment to the sugar-energy sector. In this mission, representatives of 26 Brazilian companies will visit the mills producing sugar, ethanol and other bioproducts derived from sugarcane.
"The sugar-energy sector in Peru is in full development and Brazilian technology is a reference for producers," said Flavio Castellari, executive director of the mission in Peru.
According to Castellari, the work developed by the export incentive project Brazil Sugarcane Bioenergy Solution moves annually a certain amount of US$ 600 million, and piracicaba participates in the cluster 7 companies specialized in the sector, such as Dedini Indústria de Base, General Chains do Brasil, Turbimaq, Unimil, among others.
According to him, the Peruvian sugarcane market is promising for bilateral agreements. "Companies linked to the Brazil Sugarcane Project are prepared to export and win new businesses outside Brazil. In the mission, the representatives of Brazil, also formed entrepreneurs from Sertãozinho, Sorocaba, São José do Rio Preto, Londrina, for example, will even the mills make technical visits, in addition to holding business meetings. In this mission is planned the participation of the agricultural attaché of the Embassy of Brazil in Lima, Angela Pimenta Peres.
In the 2021/2022 harvest, Peru is expected to reach 1.3 million tons of sugar, compared to a slightly lower volume in the previous harvest. According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Peru is the country that obtains the best sugarcane production in the world in certain planted areas, with a differentiated profile.
The main sugar-buyer countries of Peru are: China, United States, Algeria, Bangladesh, Malaysia, European Union, South Korea, Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates.
Since 2007, the Brazil Sugarcane Bioenergy Solution Project – a partnership between Apla and ApexBrasil – has added companies and public and private institutions linked to the sugar and energy sector, covering the sugarcane agro-industrial chain from the development of industrial and agricultural technologies, manufacturing of machinery and equipment, expansion of sugarcane varieties and various services, effective participation in the development and structuring of markets.
