The eight world champion soccer countries also stand out for their agricultural production, and each of these nations is a reference in the production of certain foods. Brazil, besides being the only country that participated in all the world cups, is also the one that won the most titles, with five achievements.
Here, we are a highlight in the production of soybeans, corn, coffee, cotton, sugarcane and meats.
Germany is the only team that can draw with Brazil in the Qatar tournament, as the country has four titles. Italy is also a tetra, but it does not participate in this World Cup.
In all, three teams are two-time world champions: Uruguay (1930 and 1950), Argentina (1978 and 1986) and France (1998 and 2018), which is the current champion.
Among the teams that have won the World Cup only once, are England (1966) and Spain (2010).
That is, in addition to Brazil, only seven other teams have the privilege of occupying a place in the gallery of the great world champions, and all of them have a relationship with agriculture.
Germany
Germany has gained worldwide fame because of its beer. One of the secrets to this success is the quality of hops, one of the most important raw materials for the production of the drink, and the most laborious as well.
There is a saying that the plant wants to "see its owner every day". Crop management requires 200 hours of work per hectare, which represents 40 times more than is required for cereals.
Spain
When we think of Spain, one of the first memories refers to the traditional paella, made with seafood. But the taste of this typical dish depends on an agricultural product that Hispanics are proud to produce, olive oil.
The country is the largest producer of olives in the world: it is 10 million tons produced per year, a volume that represents 40% of the planet's production.
England
Among england's main agricultural products is potatoes. Here in Brazil, the expression "English potato" became famous. The tuber appeared more than 8,000 years ago in the Andes, but was only taken to Europe around 1570, where it became popular because it was rich in carbohydrates, as well as a source of vitamins and energy.
Food arrived in our country only in 1700, being called only "potato chips". However, the English engineers who came to participate in the construction of railways required potatoes at meals; thus, the expression "English potato" emerged, which exists only in Brazil.
France
When we think of France, the first image that comes to mind is the Eiffel Tower. In agribusiness, the French stand out in dairy cattle as the 7th largest producer of cow's milk and 5th largest in goat's milk.
As a result, the country is the largest cheese producer on the planet, with more than 400 types.
Italy
In Italy, the highlight is the production of grapes and, consequently, wines. The Italians consolidated themselves as the largest producers of the beverage, with 26.5 billion liters, representing 18.5% of world production.
Brazil is the main market for Italy's exports in Latin America, totaling US$ 3.15 billion, and wines account for US$ 43 million of this total.
Argentina
Our Argentine brothers are the largest exporters of soybean meal and oil in the world. They also stand out in livestock for the quality of meat and especially in wheat production.
In the 2021/22 season, the country produced 21.8 million tons, ten times more than Brazil (2,739 million tons), which is still very dependent on argentine product. Last year, Brazil imported 5.5 million tons from Argentina, thus disbursing US$ 7.9 billion.
Uruguay
Uruguayans stand out in agriculture with 12 million head of cattle, which means that there are four oxen for each inhabitant of the country.
Because of this, the typical dish of Uruguay is the famous parrillada, which uses cuts of beef, pork and chicken, and may even include giblets.
