Scientists create techniques to track micronutrients
quarta-feira, novembro 30, 2022
Wheat is a winter crop cultivated in the soybean off-season, but the role of wheat goes beyond crop rotation, often cultivation also aims to bring profitability to the producer. For its best development, the grain needs to absorb micronutrients. With that in mind, researchers have developed unique methods to track micronutrients in wheat.
The goal is to find the best time and method to provide micronutrients for cereal. Tona Sanches, a researcher at the Center for Sustainable in California, along with Professor Richard Bell, had their projects funded to produce and test new fertilizers that can lead to biofortification of wheat with zinc (Zn).
Scholars have found that applying foliar fertilizers to increase the nutritional value of wheat is a method that farmers can adopt to maintain grain quality and provide nutrition necessary for human health.
