The ANP held, together with the National Union of Corn Ethanol (UNEM), the UNEM-ANP Technical Week. The event, which is an initiative of Unem to bring public sector and private initiative closer together in search of more efficiency and agility in the processes of regulation of industries, was held last week in the cities of Sorriso and Sinop, in Mato Grosso.
Representatives of 14 industries producing corn ethanol participated in Sinop (MT), where discussions focused on the theme "Regulation", with the participation of ANP Director Cláudio Jorge de Souza. Topics related to regulation in the corn ethanol industry were discussed, such as the process of licensing installation and expansion of production units and new plant projects.
During the event there was a visit to the Inpasa facilities in Sinop, one of the main corn ethanol producing plants in the country. The unit, inaugurated in 2019, has the capacity to produce 3 million liters of ethanol per day. According to Director Cláudio de Souza, the visit to the production unit was an opportunity to get to know this expanding sector in the country. "It is important this approximation between regulatory agency and regulated agents so that we can know and listen to the demands of those who are at the tip and thus have a more realistic performance with the market. It was a great learning experience."
"It is important this approximation between regulatory and regulated agents so that we can know and listen to the demands of those who are at the tip and thus have a more realistic performance with the market. It was a great learning experience."
The executive president of Unem, Guilherme Nolasco, highlighted that the initiative of the Technical Week was precisely to create a closer communication channel between industries and ANP, with exchange of experiences and information that will bring more agility to the regulatory processes.
"Brazil's corn ethanol sector is constantly expanding, both from new ventures that reach the market, as well as to the expansion of units already producing or the beginning of operations by sugarcane ethanol plants that will start processing also from cereal. The distancing of the regulatory agency often causes delays and brings financial losses for those who are on the tip and need to start production," Nolasco said, as published by agora MT newspaper.
In Sorriso, the theme was RenovaBio. Among the topics addressed were the chain of custody of corn ethanol under RenovaBio; eligibility, bookkeeping and supply of decarbonization credits (CBIOs) of grain-based biofuel producing units; and particularities of the production route and life cycle of second harvest corn.
THE DIRECTOR OF THE ANP, Daniel Maia Vieira, also highlighted the importance of the meeting and the RenovaBio program. "This initiative gives us a clear perception of the importance, for producers, of the regulations that the ANP edits. This direct contact allows us to receive your demands live, bringing the Agency's position of dialogue, openness and transparency. The meeting also demonstrates the importance of a program such as RenovaBio, both for Brazil, in the international environment and within the framework of the Paris agreement, as well as for producers"
