Driven by negotiations involving fertilizer imports, the partnership between Brazil and Canada recorded a record in trade in 2022, according to a Quick Trade Facts study, prepared by the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CCBC).
From January to September, Brazil increased the volume of imports by 317%, involving only fertilizers or chemical fertilizers, totaling US$ 3.2 billion. This growth occurs mainly due to the conflicts involving the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Considering the first nine months of the year, Canada also remained in 13th position as the largest destination for Brazilian exports. In the ranking of imports, the North American country advanced from 10th place to 8th place.
In this period, the trade flow – which represents the sum of imports and exports – rose from US$ 8.2 billion, recording a new historical record. In 2021, the cumulative amount of 2021 reached US$ 7.4 billion.
