The sustainability of corn will be discussed between October 19 and 20 during the 1st International Corn Congress will be held at the Córdoba Convention Center (CCC) in Argentina. The event focuses on innovation, development, sustainability and cereal performance.
The congress has more than 75 confirmed national and international speakers. Among the participating countries, in addition to Argentina, are Brazil and the United States.
The event is organized by the provinces of Córdoba, Santa Fe and Entre Ríos, along with Maizar (Asociación Maíz Y Sorgo Argentino), Córdoba Cereal Exchange and La Pastelera Producciones SRL.
The choice of Córdoba as the meeting of the congress is due to the fact that corn is a fundamental crop for the economic development of the province in particular and the Central Region in general, a region that is completed with the provinces of Santa Fe and Entre Ríos, both fundamental for the development of the chain in Argentina.
Sérgio Busso, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of Corboda, explains that the importance of corn is not only about agricultural rotation, but that cereal is important for Argentina and other countries in terms of sustainability, both economic, environmental and social.
According to the president of Maizar, Pedro Vigneau, every day new tools emerge to assist in more objective and efficient decision making. He points out that in the two days of events, in addition to discussing issues related to cultivation, nutrition, genetics, weeds, pests, diseases, biologicals and market insertion, will also be discussed on how to turn more corn.
Brazil brings experience to Argentina
Brazil will be one of the countries participating in the event in Córdoba. The country will be present with a representative of the Brazilian Association of Corn Producers (Abramilho), Instituto Pensar Agropecuária (IPA), among others.
According to the executive director of Abramilho, Glauber Silveira, the purpose of Brazilian participation is the exchange of experiences, showing actions that are carried out in the country, especially in the political sphere, through the Parliamentary Front of Agriculture (FPA), which assist in the expansion of the production chain.
