Ukraine begins sunflower harvest

September is there and with it the arrival of flowers and spring, starting on the 22nd. In Ukraine, producers have already started harvesting soybeans and sunflower, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, on Friday (2). The conflicts between Ukraine and Russia, are giving way to the harvest of flowers, in this case the sunflower, used to feed birds, flowers for decoration, production of honey, food and manufacture of soaps and candles.
Sunflower is mainly grown as a source of edible oil, popularly known as sunflower oil. Ukraine is one of the largest producers of sunflowers in the world, with more than 47,347,175 tons per year. The crop has a short vegetative cycle and does not need specialized machinery. The first harvest was 81,700 tons of seeds, according to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Gradually the country returns to the production of sunflower seeds and oil, of which it was a reference before the war. The report says farmers have finished harvesting wheat and barley. Ukrainian farms also began harvesting corn, with more than 2,000 tons. Ukraine is a major global grain producer and exporter, its main market is the European Union.
