Chinese soybean imports fall 24.5% in August and corn declines 44.4%

Chinese soybean imports totaled 7.17 million tons in August this year, down 24.5% from the same period last year, according to data released by the China Customs Department (Gacc) on Monday (19).
In the year, the Asian country imported 61.33 million tons of oilseeds.
Among oilseeds, China acquired 30,000 tons of soybean oil in August this year, down 76% from a year earlier.
From January to August 2022, the import of the commodity totaled 210,000 tons.
Chinese imports
Chinese corn imports reached 1.8 million tons in August, a volume 44.4% lower than in August 2021.
In the year, the country imported 16.93 million tons of cereal.
From wheat, the Chinese imported 530,000 tons last month, a drop of 25.4% compared to the previous year.
In the year, imports of cereal by the Asian country totaled 6.25 million tons.
China imported 110,000 tons of cotton last month, up 24.9 percent from the same 2021 range.
The import of natural fiber totaled 1.37 million tons between January and July of this year.
Chinese purchases of palm oil reached 300,000 tons in August, a volume 36.1% lower than imported a year earlier.
In the accumulated year, the import of the commodity reached 1.616 million tons.
Of dairy, 260,000 tons were imported by China in August, 25.9% less than in the same period a year earlier. Between January and August, the country bought 2.29 million tons of dairy products from the foreign market.
Chinese sugar imports totaled 680,000 tons in August, up 35.8% from the same month a year earlier. In the accumulated year, the imports of the sweetener reached 2.73 million tons.
Fertilizer purchases were 950,000 tons, an increase of 88% compared to August last year. From January to August, China imported 6.28 million tons.
