Brazil deposits seeds in World Bank of Norway

The Brazilian Agricultural Research Company (Embrapa) sent soybean seeds, native fruit seeds and forage to the World Seed Bank. Soon the order will arrive in Europe, Embrapa Genetic Resources and Biotechnology of the Federal District, was responsible for shipping. The genetic bank is located in the Svalbard Archipelago in Norway.
The forecast is that by October 2022, the seeds will be deposited, the announcement was made at the XXI Brazilian Seed Congress (CBS) that runs until September 15 and is held in Paraná, by the Brazilian Association of Seed Technology (Abrates). CBSementes is considered the largest forum for seed discussion and technology in Latin America.
The novelty was announced by Embrapa's temperate climate scientist, Rosa Lia Barbieri, "In the boxes are going cashew seeds, passion fruit, corn and soybeans, there are 370 accesses (seed samples) and each access contains 500 seeds", explains the scientist. This is the third germplasm deposit that goes into the world seed vault, the vault holds copies of seed backs from various countries.
