Brazil attends meetings between Latin American countries and the OECD

Brazil will host, from today (21) to Friday (24), a series of meetings between Latin American countries and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), group of the most industrialized economies on the planet.
The Brazil-OECD Week, held at Itamaraty in Brasilia, will include several events on economic policies, education and productivity in Brazil and Latin America.
The meeting will be opened in the afternoon by President Jair Bolsonaro and OECD Secretary General Mathias Cormann. In the morning, there will be a closed meeting to discuss Brazil's plan to take part in the OECD, approved on The 10th in Paris.
The first event of the marathon meetings will be the Brazil-OECD Forum, which intends to discuss, today and Wednesday (22), policies on the reform agenda of Brazil.
The Brazilian government will present the main results of ongoing projects for the country to meet the criteria for oecd assistance on the following topics: economic issues and trends, corporate governance, reviews of regulatory frameworks, education, health, public governance, trade and agriculture.
According to Itamaraty, during the forum there will be the launch of a project funded by the European Union to support Brazil's recovery from the economic crisis, focusing on the green growth agenda.
Education and Productivity
Also today and tomorrow, the OECD Regional Programme for Latin America and the Caribbean will hold a conference with education ministers from the Latin American continent.
Ministers will discuss a possible reformulation of learning content and new pedagogical approaches, the reconfiguration of teaching and learning spaces to stimulate collaboration and innovation. The use of technology to promote improvements and efficient investment of educational resources will also be discussed.
On Thursday (23) and Friday, there will be the 4th Ministerial Summit on Productivity. The event will be jointly organized by the Brazilian government and the OECD, with support from the OECD Global Productivity Forum. The Brazil-OECD Week will close on Friday afternoon with a meeting of the Regional Program's Executive Group. The group meets twice a year, once in Paris, where the OECD is based, and once in Latin America or the Caribbean.
Change of command
The meeting of the working group will have representatives from all OECD and Latin American countries participating in the Regional Programme. At the time, Brazil and Mexico will transfer the co-presidency of the group to Colombia and another Latin American country to be confirmed.
The meeting is also attended by other international bodies, such as the Organization of American States (OAS), the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Andean Development Confederation (CAF) and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), among other regional organizations.
