Brazil to receive 1st phosphate plant

A Company in Morocco, OCP, announced that it is bringing its phosphate plant to Brazil, according to the Group's CEO, Mostafa Terrab, during a meeting in Rabat with Brazil's Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Marcos Montes. He says it will be something very precious to have the factory in Maranhão and the company is ready to give priority to the Brazilian market with phosphates.
In this context, the president of OCP Fertilizantes in Brazil, Olavio Takenaka, told The ANBA that it will be the company's first phosphate plant in Brazil and that the products will be made with phosphate rock imported from Morocco. The company already has a plot of land six kilometers from the Port of Itaqui, in Maranhão. According to the executive, the Engineering project is being finalized for the authorities to approve. "We even planned a dicalcium phosphate plant for animal feed," said Takenaka.
"OCP is a world leader in the production of phosphorus and derivatives. The company holds 70% of global phosphorus reserves. The president of the company told a little of the history of OCP, which began operations in 1920, initially focused on the production of phosphatic rock only, and after a development process, reached the final products. OCP produces everything from phosphoric acid to fertilizers such as MAP, TSP, DAP, NP, NPKs, as well as nutrients for animal feed, among others," the ANBA adds.
The meeting was attended by The Ambassador of Brazil to Morocco, Julio Bitelli, the agricultural attaché of the embassy, Nilson Guimarães, the president of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Company (Embrapa), Celso Moretti, executives of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Secretariat of Strategic Affairs of Brazil, the Organization of Brazilian Cooperatives (OCB) and the National Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock (CNA).
