Brazilian bran heading to China can not have THESE pests

China has already submitted its phytosanitary requirements to receive the Brazilian soybean meal agreed on in the emergency export agreement. According to the Chinese specialized portal AgroPages, the product to be shipped cannot contain quarennary pests in the Asian country, among them Callosobruchus maculatus, Zabrotes subfasciatus and Solenopsis invicta.
According to the draft presented to Brazilian representatives of the grain sector, the soybean derivative also cannot be contaminated with other pests and seeds of quarennary plants. It may also not present animal residues or carcasses, bird feathers, soil and transgenics not approved by China.
Government sources confirm brazil is likely to ship the first batch of soybean and corn meal to China later this year. Initially the agreement between the two countries was that shipments would begin in the 2022/23 harvest, which has not yet been planted in Brazil, but the Chinese warned brazilian authorities that they need the product first due to the scarcity of supply in the world market.
To meet this demand, Brazil needs to meet the technical requirements required by China, one of those involved in the negotiation said. Exporters have already been informed of the criteria by the Brazilian Department of Agricultural Defense MAPA (Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply).
According to him, the Chinese government would have already issued licenses for Brazilian companies to export their corn. Interested parties have until August 19 to express their intention to send the cereal to China with MAPA, which will evaluate the units and then grant the license.
According to the executive director of the Brazilian Association of Corn Producers (Abramilho), Glauber Silveira, "if China buys bran, we will be able to increase crushing capacity." According to him, China is increasingly concerned with ensuring supply for the production of pork, poultry and eggs
"There has to be soybean meal and corn. China is anticipating, even more now with the stress with the United States, of those who bought soybeans and had an agreement for corn, and with the issue of [war in] Ukraine. Here in Brazil we have stability as an exporter", he concludes.
