With the addition of new signatories in the last crop year, approximately 3.2 million tons of soybeans, about 96% of the state's production, are in compliance with the strict socio-environmental requirements required by the Green Protocol of Grains of Pará. This is an agreement signed in 2014 between the State Government, municipalities, associations and companies in the grain chain and the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office in order to ensure the commitment of the productive sector not to commercialize products from illegally deforested areas, with an environmental embargo, not registered or irregular in the Rural Environmental Register (CAR), with occurrence of slave labor or cultivated in overlap with conservation units and indigenous lands.
According to data released by ABIOVE, given its importance for the development of agricultural activities in line with the preservation of the natural resources of the Amazon Biome, the Green Grain Protocol of Pará has just gained a new site. With access through the protocolodegraos.com.br page, information about the initiative is available: who are its signatories, how to participate, results of audit processes, manuals, reports, newsletters, news and data from the State of Pará.
Also according to the Executive of ABIOVE, "the Green Grain Protocol of Pará is a successful example of how a private public environmental governance initiative contributes efficiently to sustainability in the grain supply chain, in production processes and, consequently, in strengthening the image of Brazilian agribusiness".
