Advance of avian influenza leaves Brazil on alert

The only one among the world's major producers to never register Avian Influenza on its territory, Brazil has sparked the alert with recent records of the disease in several countries in the Northern Hemisphere, such as the United States and members of the European Union.
The French Ministry of Agriculture confirmed 142 cases of a highly pathogenic strain of the disease.
In France alone, until Tuesday (4), 1,164 cases were confirmed in commercial poultry plants, 42 cases in wild animals and another 22 cases in chickens. The folder did not say in which region these animals were identified.
Currently, 34 countries in Europe have reported cases of the disease between 2020 and 2022.
According to Luis Rua, a bpa's market director, Brazil never recorded the disease.
To ensure that the scenario remains the same, the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) recently initiated a sector mobilization, in a campaign aimed at strengthening health care in poultry properties throughout the country.
"All care is little. We always need to pay a lot of attention to farms," he says.
According to Rua, with differentiated health status, Brazil can access more markets and occupy the space left by the countries affected by the disease. "We need to continue like this, always prepared to serve the markets," he says.
