JBS enters fertilizer market with factory in São Paulo
sexta-feira, março 18, 2022
JBS joined the fertilizer segment with the creation of Campo Forte, a company in its New Business division that will produce organic, organomineral and special insums. The plant located in Guaiçara, in the interior of São Paulo, required R$ 134 million in investment and will have the capacity to produce 150,000 tons of products annually, from waste generated in the company's operations.
The initiative expands JBS's operations in the circular economy, in line with the Net Zero 2040 commitment, which aims to zero the net balance of its greenhouse gas emissions by this year.
"This inauguration reinforces JBS's sustainable purpose and is another circular economy initiative of the Group, which will give a correct destination to the waste of its operations, generating a product with added value, from a highly technological and sustainable industrial process," says The Ceo of JBS Novos Negócios, jbs.
Campo Forte's operation will serve both companies (B2B) and final consumers (B2C), with a proposal for consultative and technical sales, supported by laboratory analysis and support in purchasing decision making.
According to the company, the rural producer will have available a line of fertilizers that promotes increased productivity, boosts nutrients and reduces losses, with less impact to the environment. Initially, Campo Forte will prioritize sales efforts for soybean, corn, coffee, sugarcane and hortiferure crops, as well as pastures and forests.
"Today, 87% of the volume of fertilizers consumed in Brazil comes from imports. This brings a great opportunity for the company's expansion", says Susana Carvalho.
